Find helpful information about contractors for your next home project
FindNH Contractors.com offers more information about a contractor than you will find in the newspaper or phone book, including contact info, profiles of the contractors, project pictures, and a link to their website.
Our goal is to make it easy for you as a homeowner to find a reliable local, contractor for your project. We suggest you check out all the contractors for your type of project, displayed in your search, because some contractors offer specials of the month and discounts you may want to know about.
All home improvement projects disturb your household and usually make a mess. To help make that process go more smoothly, we recommend you investigate any contractor you allow in your home and suggest before hiring a cotractor make sure they have written contract and a certificate of insurance and and always ask for and check references. We also recommend you talk to 2 or 3 contractors for pricing and scheduling also keep in mind the lowest price is not always the best way to go.
And you may always use our Homeowners Toolbox tools to check out any New Hampshire contractors, even before you contact them.
Homeowners Tip: Remember to check out all the contractors displayed in your search results, because some contractors offer specials and discounts you may want to know about.
How to find out if a contractor is licensed.
All states that license contractors and tradesmen keep lists of license holders. Click on the abbreviation for your state in the map to see the phone number (and usually a Web address) for your state licensing board. A phone call or several mouse clicks will identify exactly who is licensed and who isn’t.
Except for plumbers and electricians, tradesmen paid by the hour usually don't need a license. Contractors bidding on any significant work (more than a few hundred dollars) need a license in most states. If you have a problem with a licensed contractor or tradesman, the state licensing board can be a powerful ally in resolving issues. Get into a dispute with an unlicensed contractor or tradesman and you’re on your own.
All construction contractors need liability and workers’ compensation coverage. Request a certificate of insurance from the contractor you select. Insurance carriers provide certificates showing policy limits and coverage dates. There's usually no charge for these certificates.
This site was created by local New Hampshire people and is a FREE directory to bring together New Hampshire homeowners and local, reputable, quality New Hampshire contractors without filling out forms and giving away personal information. It is not a referral system, you make your selections and choose for yourself. Isn't that what you would do anyway?
